Due to inclement weather days, there will be school for all students Friday, March 21st (full day) and Monday, April 14th (1:00 pm dismissal).

In case of inclement weather our Dr. Suess celebration, readings, and photos will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014.

March is upon us and as the old saying goes "In like a Lion out like a Lamb"! The school year is essentially half way over and insuring that learning continues to be our top priority we continue to encourage a partnership between home and school. Our "lion" time of the year is upon us...we are in high gear, working kids hard and preparing them for the upcoming NJASK state testing. Our teachers are hard at work providing engaging and meaningful lessons and activities in our classrooms. Their efforts are truly outstanding. And in only a few months, we will be working to transition into late spring, end of the school year and finally summer. Time sure does fly by.

Have you heard? The Principal's Study Island Weekend Challenges are in full swing offering another way for students to prepare for the NJASK testing. This Friday marks the 7th consecutive weekend of challenges. Students must complete all posted assignments answering a minimum of 20 questions and obtaining a blue ribbon (80%). Students who successfully complete the weekend challenges are recognized on Monday mornings and awarded a special prize. Please encourage your child to participate in our weekend challenges as we gear up for testing. It truly makes a difference.

As we move closer into the spring there are many up-coming events/fundraisers to look forward to. In celebration of Dr. Suess's birthday the Wilson School PTO is offering our students the opportunity to have their picture taking with the Cat in the Hat. Each photo is $5.00. Order forms were sent home in each child's backpack. Our yearly Gertrude Hawk Chocolate Fundraiser is also underway. Packets were also sent home and each child who sells will receive a participation prize. Order forms and money are due on March 10th.

Pre-K and Kindergarten registration for the 2014-15 school year takes place on March 11th, 12th 13th. Registration times are 9:30-11:30 and 1:30 – 2:30. Adhering to our scheduled time slots is the best way to ensure a smooth registration process. For those parents who are interested in getting a head start ON-LINE REGISTRATION is now available. Parents may go to www.lodi.k12.nj.us click on to the parent link and then click "student registration." Once the on-line pre-registration process is completed please print the page and bring it along with the additional required documentation as noted on the website.

As you can see our unpredictable winter weather is still with us. Please make sure that your child continues to come to school dressed for the conditions. Students will be lining up outside in the morning and on warmer days go out for Physical Education and recess as long as it isn't raining or bitter cold. Our students need recess and Physical Education and they enjoy it.

This is just a reminder that the Wilson School parking lot is designated for vehicles belonging to our faculty members. Unfortunately our space is limited and we cannot provide visitor parking. When dropping your child off please remember that students must exit their vehicles in the drop off zone on Liberty Street only. For safety reasons parents are not permitted to park or drop off students in our parking lot or in front of the school's driveway. Often times there are students walking through the lot during and after arrival and dismissal time so the entrance and parking lot need to be free of moving cars while they are walking on school grounds.

Thank you for adhering to our school rules and keep our children safe
