Dear Wilson School Families,

Welcome back to Wilson School! I hope that all of you have had a pleasant summer and took some time for rest and relaxation. I am looking forward to a great 2016-17 school year. I would like to welcome those who are new to our Wilson School family and hope that you feel at home here. We have many support systems in place to help you acclimate to your new environment if needed. Our wonderful faculty members, support staff and Mrs. Sproviero, our secretary, are great resources and are always here to assist in any way. Please do not hesitate to ask for assistance.

This year most of our faculty and staff will remain the same, however, there have been a few changes. Miss Santos has been asked to join our First Grade Team alongside Mrs. Guido and Mrs. Scirocco successfully leading our little ones on new adventures this school year. We are very proud to announce two new members to our faculty; Miss Emily DeRosa, who will be teaching 5th grade with Ms. Nichols and Mrs. Monzo, and Miss Alexa Luna, who will be teaching 3rd grade alongside Mrs. Tucci. Miss Samantha Trillo will be starting off the year while Mrs. Collins, formerly Ms. DiLella's, enjoys her maternity leave. And Ms. Kathleen McFadden, will be replacing Mrs. Monzo, as she also enjoys her little one at home. I know that you join me in welcoming all of our new faculty members into our school community. We are thrilled to have them as part of our family.

As we continue with the implementation of the Common Core Standards across the curriculum, we will strive to prepare our students to be innovative problem solvers who are capable of meeting the challenges of the 21st Century. A child's home is the primary environment of learning and development therefore, your support, trust, and understanding are important components to a successful school, year. Together, teachers, students, and parents/guardians make a strong Wilson School family. We appreciate your support as your child enters the classroom, learns, and grows through the year. Let's all commit to have a good school year, setting everyone, students, as well as teachers, up for success.

Throughout the year I look forward to meeting the new members of our community and connecting with returning ones. I encourage families to get to know each other so that we can build new friendships and support each other as the need arises. You will have a great opportunity to meet new people and see old friends at the Annual Fall Scholastic Book Fair which will run from September 27th, - September 29th, and especially on Wednesday, September 28th, at Back to School Night. Please check the PTO link on our web page for further information. And don't forget to join the PTO! Our first meeting is Wednesday, September 14th, at 7:00 pm. We welcome your ideas and support in providing positive learning experiences for all of our students.

I extend heartfelt gratitude to our teachers who spent many hours decorating and organizing their classrooms before school opened and to our office staff who have done many behind the scenes organizational tasks. I also thank our maintenance staff for all their hard work cleaning and preparing the building for a new school year. You have all done a marvelous job and our school could not function without you.

Therefore, we cannot disregard this process and reconstitute classes based on parent requests. Your cooperation and support are greatly appreciated.

For those of you making the journey to the Thomas Jefferson Middle School next year, best of luck and have fun! For those returning to Wilson School classes, we cannot wait for the new adventures that lay ahead of us!

News and Events

This is just a reminder that the Wilson School parking lot is designated for vehicles belonging to our faculty members. Unfortunately our space is limited and we cannot provide visitor parking. When dropping your child off please remember that students must exit their vehicles in the drop off zone on Liberty Street only. For safety reasons parents are not permitted to park or drop off students in our parking lot or in front of the school's driveway. Often times there are students walking through the lot during and after arrival and dismissal time so the entrance and parking lot need to be free of moving cars while they are walking on school grounds.

Thank you for adhering to our school rules and keep our children safe
